Project - Scaling Everest

On behalf of Rotary International District 3220 – Sri Lanka and Maldives, the Rotary Club of Colombo Midtown organized a felicitation of Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala and Johann Peiris, where they shared their experiences from their amazing feat of climbing Mount Everest. The event was held on Wednesday, 20th July 2016, at the Bougainvillea Room of the Galadari Hotel from 7 pm to 9 pm followed by dinner.

The event was graced by the Immediate Past President of Rotary International K R Ravindran, Chief of Defence Services, Air Chief Marshal Kolitha Gunatillake and the District Governor of District 3220 Senake Amarasinghe. District 3220 comprises 73 Rotary Clubs in Sri Lanka and the Maldives with approximately 2100 Rotarians

District Governor Senake Amarasinghe felicitated Johann and Jayanthi with the presentation of a plaque and Immediate Past RI President K R Ravindran honoured both of them by the pinning of a Paul Harris Fellow Badge gifted by the Rotary Club of Colombo Midtown. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions of US$1000 made in their name to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

The Rotary Club of Colombo Mid Town of which Rtn Hussein Fazleabas is the current President also conferred honorary membership of the club to Jayanthi and Johann.
